Item: letter included with response package from Warnke Ministries
by C. F. Merrill [or David Balsiger? See note below]
July 1992
NOTE: Identity of author is dubious. The letter appears to be signed "C. F. Merrill", but when Cornerstone magazine called Bridge on 14 Oct. 1992 to confirm the spelling of the author's name, they refused to give any spelling and said the actual author of the letter was David Balsiger, who wrote the entire text and who should be listed as the letter's author instead of the signer.
Typescript is reproduced exactly, including bracketed material at end.
BRIDGE PUBLISHING, INC. 2500 Hamilton Blvd., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 (980) 754-0745 FAX (908) 754-0613 " .... handling accurately the word of truth" 2 TIM. 2:15 (NASB) [followed by LOGOS's old logo] July 1992 Dear friends, Bridge Publishing, formerly known as Logos International, published The Satan Seller by Mike Warnke in 1972. The book enjoyed immediate success and has been responsible for thousands (probably tens of thousands) of readers finding Christ or being delivered from occult activity per letters received at Bridge-Logos and at the Warnke Ministries head- quarters. The book is entering its 20th year inprint and has continued to be a useful ministry tool for those involved in occult activities and for law enforcement agencies who use it in occult related crime training seminars. Regarding the accuracy of The Satan Seller, co-author David W. Balsiger says several pieces of factual information were purposefully changed to protect the privacy of many people and to prevent readers from using the book as a guide for occultic and satanic practices. Factual accounts in Warnke's life, generally altered, partially or com- pletely changed, included locations, people's names, dates, several events, and occultic information which would have given readers accurate infor- mation and dates for conducting their own rituals. Co-author Balsiger, who is also a professional consultant (over 2000 case hours) on occult related criminal cases believes the Warnke account as told in The Satan Seller to be fundamentally accurate and true except where changes were intentionally made as outlined above. The book has been a blessing to hundreds of thousands of people during the past 20 years and will continue to minister to people in the future. Concerning Mike Warnke's personal marital problems, we regret that such problems have occurred. We also recognize that these problems often occur even in Christian marriages which lack balance between the call of ministry and the marital relationship. We understand some of these marital problems are addressed in his new book Recovering From Divorce (by Mike Warnke and Rose Hall Warnke) [Victory House]. It's our personal belief as the publisher of The Satan Seller, we need to hold Mike Warnke and all other Christian authors up in prayer. We need to pray that they can fulfill both their ministry and marriage requirements with a sense of balance that is honoring to the Lord. With God's blessings, [signed, C. F. Merrill]
