Jesus People Milwaukee, 1971 - This was how it began, a group of seven people led by Jim and Sue Palosaari, moved to Milwaukee and began evangelizing. Soon, they opened a Brady Street coffee house and moved into an old hospital on Prospect Avenue. A young Glenn Kaiser joined (see his "testimony" below), as did a number of people who make up the core leadership of Jesus People USA today. JP Milwaukee swelled to nearly 200 members within a year before splitting into Jesus People Europe (led by the Palosaaris), Christ Is the Answer (led by pentecostal evangelist Bill Lowry), and Jesus People USA, led by J. W. and Dawn Herrin.

Here's more on JP Milwaukee and its role in JPUSA's story.
